Still Life

A painting in a day was the idea. I went to the store picked up an 8 x 10 canvas and had a little fun. I am at the moment toying with the idea of doing a painting a day and selling them for a month but haven't committed just yet. So if those of you that frequent my blog think that would be something interesting to see then leave me a comment below.

Just as a side note most everything you see here on this blog is for sale.

This last Saturday I had the opportunity to exhibit my prints along side other advanced printmaking students of BYU-I. In the exhibit "Think Ink" held at The Art Museum of Eastern Idaho. Posted above are some pictures of me along side the prints and also a small glimpse of how many prints were shown. Personally I had 15 prints on display in the show.

Sent the Message

The print was a lot of fun to make. This intaglio print was made with line etching and aquatint but with a twist I used spray paint to get the gradient. If remember right it took three aquatints to get the different values in the print.

Listen

Well there, it really has been a while since I last posted. Mostly it has just been life that has taken over but I am still doing artwork. Well here is a mezzotint print of a phone in the window. The process uses a tool called rocker to make the dark area then we use a burnisher and scraper to make the light areas out of the dark.

This phone print was a lot of fun to make but also very difficult. I started with a line etching and then stated the 3 different aquatints. The first one I just stop out for different tone. The second I spay painted to get gradient and third was multiple layers of spit bite.

I have been slacking with my blogging but here is another of my phone prints. The phone was based on a candle stick phone highly stylized with much of the symbols used in other prints. The line etching was done using acrylic floor wax as my hard ground and the background was done with an aquatint then using a stencil I spray painted the areas I wanted stopped out.

Can't Hear

Well since my last phone print I have tried staying with the same subject but change the meaning and mood of the print. The print is an intaglio print using aquatint and line etching and for the gradient I used litho pencil on the aquatint.

As a side note this print is for sale click the link to buy and see the others

Waiting

So far my printmaking class has been a lot of fun. This print I based off a previous print called "Waiting" as well. The phone and other objects in the print have faith driven symbolism that is intentional.
